Can I claim for an injury as an estate agent?

Sometimes we are asked, “Can I claim for an injury as an estate agent?” and the answer is usually yes. An estate agent is often asked to work in different places, show people houses where there may be all manner of hazards, and travel around the area regularly. This means that the possibility of injury may be higher than for some other desk-based professions, so if an injury occurs then it could have a devastating effect and will need to be followed up.

Making a personal injury claim is very important if you have been left out of pocket as a result of an injury or if you want to help ensure that the job of an estate agent is safer to do in the future. Sometimes a hazard or accident cannot be avoided if it is already in the way, but at other times it could easily have been prevented which is why the claim should be pursued.

Why is health and safety important?

Here at Accident Advice Helpline, we try to explain to everyone just what health and safety means and why responsibility at a time like this is important. In every job or building, there is somebody that has been appointed as responsible for health and safety. This means that they should be checking the building and processes to make sure that nobody is in danger of being hurt. When an accident occurs it could be that these checks have not been carried out or that somebody has done something differently than they would normally, leading to more danger being present.

However, when this happens the company is leaving themselves wide open to a personal injury claim. They should have liability insurance that covers them for this; however, insurance is no replacement for proper prevention. If you have been on the receiving end of this lack of regard for health and safety, we want to be sure that you get the justice that you deserve.
