Can you claim for being injured on public transport to work?

We all know accidents can happen in plenty of different situations. For example, you might have an accident on public transport. While such incidents are uncommon, there is the potential for them to occur from time to time. However, could you claim for being injured on public transport to work? Would this be a different situation where your employer might have liability?

    A mixed response

A recent body of research commissioned by Accident Advice Helpline found that people were split over whether they could claim for being injured on public transport to work. A total of 41.5% of those questioned thought they could make a claim against their employer under these circumstances. Conversely, 58.5% thought they wouldn’t be able to do this. The data also found men and women shared the same views on this topic in almost identical numbers.

Clearly, people were a little unsure whether they might be able to lodge a claim for compensation resulting from any injuries suffered in this situation. However, the reality is that a claim like this is indeed perfectly valid. Every case is different, and as such your situation should be considered by someone who is a professional injury compensation lawyer with appropriate experience. However, if there is evidence to back up your claim, you can most certainly lodge such a claim.
