    Camping accidents: Shower blocks

While it’s part and parcel of the camping experience, shower blocks aren’t the most glamorous aspect of a camping holiday. That being said, there are certain standards that you should be able to expect from your campsite, ensuring your health and safety while you are away.

To avoid accidents on campsites, it is important that campsite owners maintain the areas regularly. Floors should be slip-resistant and mopped regularly to remove excess water which could cause slips, trips and falls while on holiday. Debris such as broken glass or empty cosmetic bottles on the floor can also cause accidents.

Campsite injury claims from shower blocks

If you camped in the UK or booked a camping trip abroad with a UK travel agency, your claim stands a good chance of succeeding if eligible.

UK campsites and holidays booked through UK holiday companies fall under UK law, meaning that the travel agency or the campsite owner are legally obliged to care for your health and safety during your camping holiday.

Camping accidents, such as a slip in a shower block or a wound caused by debris, can be seen as a breach of their legal requirement, should you be able to confirm that you were in no way accountable for the campsite accident.

Is my campsite injury claim eligible?

If you can confirm the following, it is likely that you have a valid case for personal injury compensation:

    • You are not accountable for the injury incurred
    • You can provide evidence to suggest that the campsite is at fault
    • The incident occurred within the last three years

Who can assist with my claim for compensation?

Dealing with the legalities of a compensation claim without experience can be complicated, especially if you are emotionally involved with the case in hand.

It is recommended that you collect evidence such as photographs of the campsite incident and your injury, medical notes of treatment you have received, and any witness details, and seek advice from a law firm.
