Public Place Incidents
Have you had a slip, trip or fall in a public place? Did you suffer injuries through no fault of your own? You may be able to claim compensation if you have answered yes to these questions.
Falls in a public place are amongst the most common types of compensation claims, but what are the most bizarre public place incidents and could you claim if you’ve had an accident at work or a slip, trip or fall in a public place?
The perils of wearing high heels
High heels are a major risk factor for slips, trips and falls, as one young lady found out when making her way down an escalator at London Euston; somehow, when she was walking, her heel got trapped and she was dragged up the escalator while lying flat on her back. She was helped by a gallant passer-by, but she suffered injuries and was left embarrassed by the incident, which was featured in warnings from Network Rail to encourage people to take extra care when travelling over Christmas.
Slip, trip or fall at the station:
Another station-related tale featured a woman desperately trying to make her train home. Unfortunately, when running to catch the train at Leeds Station, the woman tripped and fell head-first onto the platform.Open Claim Calculator
Paws for thought
A woman in Ayrshire tried to sue the council after her dog’s paw became trapped in a drain; the slip, trip or fall claim was unsuccessful. The same council was also involved in a case with a man who tried to claim for damaged designer clothing after he tripped over a drain cover.
These incidents are bizarre and unusual; however, work accidents and public place incidents are fairly common and often, they occur through no fault of the individual. If you have had an accident or you have fallen in a public place within the last 3 years you may be able to claim public liability compensation.
