Awards celebrate safe workplaces across the world

The leading lights in health and safety have been revealed at an industry awards ceremony.

The British Safety Council has announced the winners of its 2016 International Safety Awards.

    Success across the world

These awards recognise the organisations around the world that have kept their workers
and workplaces healthy and safe during 2015.

This year – the award’s 58th – 443 organisations were presented with an Award, including businesses from the UK, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

A total of 30 organisations were awarded a distinction, while 244 were awarded a merit and 169 organisations achieved a pass.

No one should suffer at work

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the BSC, said the council’s vision is that no one should be injured or made ill at work.

The Awards shine a light on those taking sensible and effective steps to protect the health, safety and welfare of their workers and others who could be harmed by their work activities.

The evidence shows that sensible and proportionate management of health and safety risks at work brings real and lasting benefits for workers, their families, businesses and society as whole, he added.
