"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

Vine accidents: Make sure you’re ready to use a punch bag!

When used correctly, punch bags can be an excellent way to let off steam and burn a significant amount of calories. Instead of channelling all of your physical energy onto a real person and committing a criminal act, you can project it on to an object instead. Doing intense exercise can also help release tension and reduce stress, as well as improve your muscular strength and coordination

Punch bags are great for letting off steam, when performed properly

Besides wearing appropriate gear, to avoid injury, you should position your thumb under your fingers; your thumb should not be included in any of your punches. If you are using a punch bag in your own home, make sure the support beam is sturdy enough, and position the punch bag away from any walls or objects that could be damaged.

In gym environments, some people can suffer injuries that were the fault of someone else, just as people can experience work accidents at the workplace. For example, you may not be responsible for experiencing an injury caused by faulty gym equipment or suffering a slip, trip or fall on an obstruction or in a particularly overcrowded gym.

Have you been the victim of an injury that was someone else’s fault?

Unfortunately, sometimes we will suffer accidents that are not our fault. At a swimming pool, for example, you may become injured after diving into a pool with a misleading water depth, or you may experience a trip, slip or fall on a slippery floor in a shopping centre without any written or verbal warnings from an authority.

People can also experience injuries in other situations such as accidents at work. For example, people working in industrial settings may need to make a repetitive strain injury claim after suffering long-term back problems. You may also be able to make a claim for a slip or trip on black ice on a surface that should have been treated with grit salt.
