Results from the 2013 Peace Index were published in April and revealed the safest locations to live in the whole of the United Kingdom. Having taken into account a whole host of factors, including violent crime rates and public disorder, the following locations came out on top.
Broadland, Norfolk as one of the safest locations
With an average crime rate of just a third of the national average, this leafy, picturesque place is fully deserving of its spot at the top of the order.
Quiet country roads mean that road traffic accidents are at a minimum, while low unemployment rates lead to high feelings of self-satisfaction and esteem amongst residents.
Three Rivers, Hertfordshire
Just five homicides in the last decade mark this quaint location out as another one of the safest locations, a place of total peace and tranquility. The triumvirate of small rivers trickle gently by while the average household brings home £920 each week, well above the national average.
Public order offences here have halved since 2003, swimming firmly against the national tide. The rural landscape provides the perfect backdrop to much of this area and, once again, car crashes and traffic accidents are few and far between.
With a record of just three homicides in the last 10 years and a steady decline in violent crime, this idyllic region has much to offer in terms of safety to its residents.
While these might be the safest and most reassuring places in which to live, nowhere is fully free from the looming spectre of accidents.
