What type of accidents could potentially take place at a wedding?

A wedding is a day of happiness. It is a time to celebrate the love and coming together of a couple who give their vows in front of their loved ones and pledge to be together forever. It is a memorable day but also, sadly accidents do happen, especially slips, trips and falls.

How are slips, trips and fall accidents caused at weddings?

There are so many causes and it is difficult to list them all but here are a few.

At the reception you often have plenty of alcohol flowing and so drinks get spilt and, if they are not mopped up it can easily become a slip claim waiting to happen.

Then you have children (and sometimes grown-ups) running around not always looking where they are going which also causes a potential trip injury.

Finally, there is the confetti on the floor after you have thrown it over the bride and groom. These bits of paper can easily become a slip, trip or fall injury waiting to happen.

How to prevent a slip, trip or fall claim?

The main thing you can do to prevent yourself getting a slip, trip or fall injury is to watch where you are walking and be aware of your surroundings. This will not only mean you will avoid that wine on the floor, or that kid running towards you but will also help others to not have to make a trip claim.

Another tip to avoid you and others having a slip, trip or fall is to report any spillages or trip hazards to the manager or wedding planner. If the wedding is being held in a hotel or hall then they should have staff to quickly mop away that spillage or sweep away that food so the party can continue without any slip, trip or fall accidents.

However, if you do have a slip, trip or fall whether at a wedding or any other event that wasn’t your fault you may be able to make a claim for compensation.
