Reducing the number of road traffic accidents on Britain’s roads has always been a priority for us here at Accident Advice Helpline. Having over 15 years’ experience in all areas of personal injury compensation has allowed us to gain unique expert knowledge, and we utilise this in order to help inform the general public on how to keep safe on the roads.
Although we are first and foremost a law firm who help our clients in their pursuit for justice, we understand just how important it is to keep pushing to bring the number of car accidents to nil. Lives ruined, families torn apart, trauma and suffering are just some of the consequences of such accidents. As we operate right across the UK, we know where accidents are most likely to occur. Here are the top five accident hotspots in Lancashire.
Lancashire’s accident hotspots
- A675 between Belmont and Abbey Village and the A682 Blacko to Gisburn;
- Long Lane between Chorley and Rivington Barn;
- A646 Burnley Road between Cliviger and Bacup;
- A671 Bacup Road; and
- Pendle Hill.
It is interesting to note that the above roads have had a high proportion of motorbike accidents. Although motorbikes account for only 1% of the traffic in Lancashire, they account for over 15% of collisions, a disproportionately high number. The council has introduced a pioneering scheme of electronic lights which inform motorists of accident black spots. The signs will feature illuminated motorcyclists and a number of eye-catching slogans in conjunction with the Think! campaign to reduce motorbike collisions.
