    Survivor guide: Surfing

A popular summer sport enjoyed by many is surfing. When it’s sunny, it’s the perfect weather to get the surfboard out and hit the waves. It is often a sport enjoyed whilst on holiday. Here is our guide to stay safe whilst surfing.

Always check the weather to prevent a travel accident

Before going out to the beach always check the weather. It may be very hot and sunny right now but if you don’t check then you may end up caught in a storm and sustaining a nasty travel injury.

    Avoid going out alone

If you can help it try not to surf alone, this means you will have someone watching out for you and if you do sustain a travel injury they will be able to get help and make sure you are conscious. If you are unable to surf with a friend make sure someone knows exactly where you are and when you are expecting to be finished so that if anything does happen someone knows where you are.

If in doubt, ask for help to avoid a travel accident

If you do not feel confident going out surfing alone or you have not surfed for a while don’t be afraid to take a refresher lesson. This will not only make you more confident of your abilities but will also help prevent a travel injury as you will be more experienced.

Make sure you are wearing the right clothes

When surfing you should always make sure you are wearing a wet suit. This will mean that if you do have a travel accident the wet suit will help to keep you from feeling the cold as much and the extra material will help reduce the severity of the travel injury.
