Survivor guide: Hong Kong’s bar street

In the centre of Hong Kong, Lan Kwai Fong is known for it’s night life and dining options. It is located between D’Aguilar Street and Wyndham Street, close to the financial centre of Hong Kong with many foreign embassies, government offices, multinational companies and other office buildings nearby. The employees there can often be found at Lan Kwai Fong after work.

After having a drink, or even just being around drunk people, the chances of suffering an injury from slips, trips and falls is higher. If you suffer this type of injury in an accident that is not your fault then Accident Advice Helpline can assist you in making a no win, no fee* compensation claim.

With around 80 bars and restaurants scattered in the narrow lane shaped like an L there are many options.

On Friday and Saturday nights Lan Kwai Fong gets crowded with foreigners and office workers looking for fun and entertainment. Mostly the area is safe but you should always remain aware to avoid the risk of accident or injury.

From 5pm to 9pm there are a series of happy hour offers such as buy one get one free on drinks or half price offers. This is mostly appealing to the office workers who get out on a Friday night and hit the town.

From 10pm students and foreign tourists tend to join the mix and even at this time you can get an inexpensive beer for around 40 to 50 HK$. Don’t let the drinks offers let you get carried away and end up injuring yourself or others!

You will find westernised furnishings and drinks in this area and English is the most common social language.

    Popular Bars

    • C Bar – small but often busy, seats out front offer a good view of the crowds and it can be open from 9am to 1am!
    • Fong – Bar stools on the first floor and a more glamorous lounge upstairs.
    • POST 97 – Well known around these parts for its full English breakfasts and self-service drinks.
    • La Doice Vita 97 – Serving gourmet Italian food during the day this is often the most popular music bar at night often with live shows.
    • The Whiskey Priest – The Irish pub. Good for sport, Irish grub and stout.
