Survivor guide: How to deal with turbulence on an aeroplane

Even for the most experienced and relaxed fliers, the sudden onset of flight turbulence can be an unpleasant, unsettling experience. Turbulence often occurs on flights passing through storm clouds, although pilots are trained to avoid any unstable air masses as much as possible to keep turbulence to an absolute minimum.

Still one of the safest modes of travel

Fortunately cabin crew have been trained to reassure passengers and keep them at ease when the seatbelt sign is turned on during a flight. According to the International Air Transport Association, the average passenger could travel on a plane for 14,000 years without experiencing a single crash.

Have you been injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault?

It is possible that you may have suffered an injury, either at an airport or on a plane, that was someone else’s fault. For example, you might have suffered scarring if you were scalded by a hot drink spilt by a crew member, or you may have suffered fractures or broken bones after experiencing a slip or fall on a wet floor that should have been cleaned.

You may also have experienced an injury or a slip, trip or fall in other accidents that were not your fault, whether you were injured in a road traffic accident or are looking to get compensation for accidents at work. Some workers can claim compensation for injuries involving industrial machinery or work accidents that have occurred as a result of receiving poor work training.

The severity of your injuries, their impact on your quality of life and any loss of income could help determine the amount of compensation you may be entitled to. Your accident, whether it’s a road traffic accident claim or an untraced driver claim, must have taken place in the last three years in order for your claim to qualify, although there are exceptions that may apply to this rule.
