No rubber safety mats in the bathroom? The risks

No rubber safety mats in the bathroom? The risks

Bathrooms are one of the rooms in the house which has the most potential to sustain a slip, trip or fall injury. The reason for this is the fact the majority of water is used in this room and it often gets splashed on the floor.

The water on the floor is not a potential slip, trip or fall hazard unless there are no rubber safety mats down to stop it from being slippery.

Why are rubber safety mats essential to prevent slip injuries?

The majority of flooring in bathrooms is usually tiles and lino. These types of flooring can become very slippery when wet so can potentially cause a nasty slip injury. However, when you have a rubber mat on the floor, the material will mean that you will have better footing and are less likely to have a slip, trip or fall.

Where else should I have a rubber mat in the bathroom?

Another important place to have a rubber mat is in your bath. The base of your bath becomes extremely slippery when wet and falling whilst in the bath can cause a very nasty slip, trip or fall injury.  If you place a rubber mat in the bath this will mean you have more grip whilst getting in and out and are much less likely to sustain a slip injury.

If you have had a slip, trip or fall within the last three years that wasn’t your fault you may be able to make a claim.
