Do I need vaccination shots before going to Australia?

There are so many precautions and regulations when travelling to another country about what you need and what vaccinations you should have it is difficult to keep track of what you should have to help prevent a travel accident.

Australia is one of those countries you feel you should need to have vaccinations purely because it is such a long way from the UK. The question is what exactly do you need before going to Australia?

Vaccinations to avoid a travel accident

Currently there are no strict rules or regulations and there are also no set vaccinations you need in order to help prevent a travel injury or illness. However, it is recommended that you are up to date with your regular vaccinations and injections to help stay healthy and avoid any travel illnesses. These include tetanus, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and also for hepatitis.

Is there anything else to consider?

If you have any condition, you have a lowered immune system or you are worried about any other vaccinations you should have it is always a good idea to ask your doctor to avoid an accident abroad. They will be able to advise whether they feel you should do anything else to protect yourself and will give you piece of mind.

Other than that make sure you stay healthy and try not to over indulge in alcohol or other substances whilst on holiday as this could increase the risk of having an accident abroad.
