Most common accidents in a leisure centre

If you’re heading off to the local leisure centre, you’re probably looking forward to working up a sweat in the gym or enjoying a relaxing swim. Leisure centres are places where we can engage in physical activity, let off steam, and have fun, and we should be able to do this without worrying about injuries and accidents. Although most sports centres are very safe, there is a risk of accidents in a leisure centre occurring. If you’ve suffered accidents in a leisure centre, and you weren’t to blame, Accident Advice Helpline could help you claim compensation.

    Leisure centre accidents

When you go to a leisure centre, you expect to be able to play a sport or participate in sporting activities without putting your health at risk. Unfortunately, accidents in a leisure centre do happen. Here are some examples:

    • Injuries caused by improper use of gym equipment and machinery
    • Injuries caused by faulty machinery or equipment
    • Slips, trips and falls
    • Injuries caused by a lack of instruction

In many cases, if you have an accident at the gym, it’ll be your fault. Perhaps you weren’t looking where you going when you were walking to the changing room or you pushed yourself a bit too hard on the treadmill. However, in some cases, you may be injured as a result of negligence on the part of somebody else. If this scenario sounds familiar, you have a right to claim personal injury compensation.

Claiming compensation for an accident at a leisure centre

If you’ve slipped at a leisure centre, and you weren’t to blame for your injuries, you may wish to consider making a claim for your accident. Whether you were using faulty gym equipment or you slipped on a wet floor which wasn’t marked with a warning sign, you should not be expected to accept liability for your injuries.

If you’ve been injured in the last 3 years and you have evidence to support your public liability claim, call Accident Advice Helpline to find out more about how to claim compensation. We have an expert team of injury lawyers with experience in dealing with public liability claims, and we work on a no-win, no-fee* basis. In most cases, clients don’t have to go to court.
