What kind of claims are UK employees entitled to make?

It is unfortunately more common than you might expect to suffer an accident at work and the blame can lie with your employer. After all, companies and organisations have a legal duty to prevent their UK employees from coming to any harm.

While you may think that an accident was not their fault, you could be entitled to work accident compensation if they have put you at risk; for example, if they haven’t provided correct equipment, adhered to health and safety guidelines, or given you sufficient training.

What kind of accidents are UK employees at risk from?

No working environment is 100 per cent accident proof and therefore accidents can happen in all types of working conditions. If you work in an office environment, you may be vulnerable to repetitive strain injury from sitting in front of your computer for prolonged periods of time.

Similarly, if the layout and set-up of your office does not comply correctly with health and safety guidelines then you may be at risk from a serious slip, trip or fall; for example, by tripping over loose television or computer cables.

Equally, if you work in an outdoor environment such as a building site there may be a substantial risk of suffering a construction accident if machinery and equipment has not been set up correctly.

What kind of claims can UK employees make?

The law states that if you have been hurt, and someone else is to blame, you should be compensated. A work injury claim can refer to, but is not limited to: repetitive strain injury, construction accidents, industrial accidents, industrial deafness and vibration white finger claims.
