Taking extra insurance if a danger of your job is death

Statistically, some jobs are more dangerous than others. If you’re more likely to be involved in accidents at work as a result of the nature of your job or the location of your workplace, you may wish to think about taking out extra insurance.

Should I take out extra insurance if I have a dangerous job?

If your job carries a high risk of injury and a serious threat of severe debilitation or even death, it may be wise to consider taking out extra insurance. Some employers offer insurance schemes, but it may be beneficial to look into life insurance; sometimes, large corporations get better deals than individual customers, so it’s always worth asking your employer before you take out a policy.

Life insurance provides a financial payout in the event of death, which can help to provide a nest-egg for family members and cover funeral fees. If you have a very dangerous job, which carries a high risk of work injury or work-related illness, your premium is likely to be more expensive than a policy aimed at somebody with a low-risk job.

Is it possible to claim compensation for an accident at work?

If you’ve been injured at work and it wasn’t your fault, it may be possible to claim work injury compensation. Compensation is generally awarded in cases where there is a clear example of negligence on the part of the employer, which results in a work accident or work-related injury.

If you’ve been involved in an accident at work in the last 3 years and you weren’t to blame, contact Accident Advice Helpline to find out more about how you make a personal injury claim and what you can expect once the claims process begins. Provided that the incident occurred within the last 3 years and you have evidence to prove that you were not at fault in any way, your work injury claim should be approved.
