    Driving from London to Ipswich

In spite of its role as a major route leading from London to Felixtowe and Harwich, two of the UK’s busiest ports, the A12 is widely considered to be a problem road unable to handle the consistently heavy flow of commercial and domestic traffic using it.

    Problems with the A12

The scene of comparatively high numbers of vehicle accidents with serious, even fatal, injuries to drivers and passengers, the road apparently has several problems that could see travellers going from London to Ipswich experiencing congestion and hold-ups at best and potentially serious car accidents at worst. These problems include:

    • Several sections and junctions known to be congestion and accident hotspots
    • High density of roundabouts, traffic lights and speed cameras within the London section
    • Unexpected variations between two and three lanes throughout the length of this predominantly dual carriageway road

These unexpected changes between numbers of lanes are made more difficult by the road conforming to a variety of very different standards in terms of access, geometry and width; lay-by provision and lighting along its length.

    Driving from London to Ipswich

In other words, families planning on heading from London to Ipswich would do well to avoid the A12 if they are hoping to have a comparatively stress-free, safe journey. Those with no alternative but to travel along the A12 in order to reach Ipswich are advised to travel during off-peak times and take extreme care to avoid getting involved in a road traffic accident.

    When careful drivers are hurt

Sometimes even the most careful drivers fall victim to accidents on the road. A momentary lapse of concentration or mistake on another road user’s part can all too easily result in drivers with previously impeccable driving records ending up in a car crash. If this scenario applies to you and you were injured in a motoring accident that was another driver’s fault, you could qualify for driver or passenger injury compensation.
