How to claim if you have a fall in a care home

When the elderly are placed into the care of those who work at care homes, it becomes their responsibility to look after them. They are placed into their custody with the belief that they are trustworthy and, on the whole, they are. But 25% of families complain about the care they receive in homes and this is double what was experienced five years ago. This could be down to a number of reasons, but there is no hiding from the fact that many people with relatives in homes aren’t happy with the service they’re receiving.

At Accident Advice Helpline, we understand the situation that seniors find themselves in. We also understand that accidents happened but we do not condone negligence. If you believe you have suffered at the hands of a negligent care giver then we suggest you claim for any injuries you might have suffered in the last three years. You need to have sought medical attention for your injuries in order to claim compensation.

Are you eligible for compensation if you fall in a care home?

Given the frail nature of seniors, any type of fall can result in serious injuries and the guilty party is often the care giver. If a senior suffers a fall in a care home, slips on wet surfaces or trips over a step they may be able to claim compensation. If you have fallen and your carer failed in their duty of care, call now.

Serious injuries suffered at care homes are likely to result in compensation, although, so are common injuries. It doesn’t matter if the injury isn’t serious. The issue is if the care giver and care home have failed in their duty of care that they are employed in.  Failing to supply the correct medication and forgetting to bathe those in their care is unacceptable. Serious illness can develop from not being bathed, especially at an old age when your immune system is in its weakest point.
