What are the most bizarre supermarket accidents?

Accident Advice Helpline has been dealing with personal injury claims for over 15 years now. In that time we’ve helped many people get the compensation they deserve, from slips, trips & falls to road traffic accidents. Any accident can be a traumatic and scarring experience and it is important to note that all claims are treated with the utmost of professionalism and expertise. However, sometimes the circumstances of an accident can only be described as bizarre. Here are some of the most bizarre supermarket accidents that have been recorded around the world.

    Bizarre Supermarket Accidents

    • Trolley finger
In an episode of the TV series, ‘Bizarre ER’, a supermarket worker in the UK presented himself at his local A&E after having caught his little finger between a door and a shopping trolley. The accident severed the tip of the man’s little finger. Fortunately only the skin of the tip of the finger was severed and the man was able to have his wound treated by surgeons.
    • Pensioner flips car onto roof
In 2011, a 68-year-old female shopper in Wigan mistook the accelerator for the brake when reversing into a space, upon which the car hit a trolley which then acted as a makeshift ramp, causing the elderly shopper to flip the car onto its roof. Fortunately no one else was injured in the accident and the pensioner made a full recovery from her injuries.
    • Slipping on a banana peel
In perhaps what was the clichéd archetype of many comedy acts in days gone by, the supreme court of Florida USA sided with two shoppers from St. Cloud who had slipped and fallen on banana peels that had been left on the floor of the supermarket.
    • Stuck in supermarket freezer
In November 2015, a New Zealand employee of the Pak’nSave Rotorua became trapped in a supermarket freezer.  The employee tried calling for help but no one was able to hear. Intuitively, the man called the fire brigade who were able to locate the trapped employee and free him from the freezer.
