    Accident hotspots in Wiltshire

No matter how cautious you are as a driver, unfortunately, this attentiveness isn’t instinctive for quite a high number of drivers, whose actions can increase your risk of experiencing a road traffic accident.

All areas of the UK have stretches dubbed as dangerous roads, and Wiltshire is no exception. Whether you are from the area, travelling through, holidaying or commuting for work, remember to travel carefully with an awareness of other drivers around you, to avoid road accidents.

    Locating Wiltshire

Located closely to Dorset and Somerset, Wiltshire is a county in South West England. As with many locations in this part of the country, the scenery is here is stunning, which increases the number of holidaymakers to the area.

Motorists on unfamiliar roads does increase the chance of road traffic accidents occurring, however, with or without these visitors, Wiltshire is home to a number of dangerous roads.

    The worst roads in Wiltshire

The Magic Roundabout in Swindon is a complex anti-clockwise roundabout, which consists of five mini-roundabouts arranged around a sixth central.  The confusing nature of the roundabout increases the level of road traffic accidents.

It has been dubbed by the BBC as one of the ten scariest junctions in the United Kingdom, while Auto Express magazine named and shamed the Magic Roundabout as one of the ‘World’s Worst Junctions.’

Chelworth crossroads on the A429 is also recognised as a road accident black spot in the area. In May 2014, the crossroads took the life of one elderly lady and a dog, while another was seriously injured in the collision.

The three-vehicle accident is just the latest incident to occur on this road traffic accident hotspot.
