A recent survey commissioned by Accident Advice Helpline revealed some surprising results. Almost 30% of the people we surveyed had received no safety training at work at all. This worrying statistic means there are potentially millions of employees across the UK who have not received any safety training. This could increase the risk of accidents occurring at work. If you have been injured due to a lack of safety training at work, you could find you’re able to make a 100% no win no fee* claim with Accident Advice Helpline, within three years of your accident.
What else did our survey reveal?
We asked survey respondents what type of safety training they had received at work, and almost 56% of people said they had received basic health and safety training – however only a quarter of those surveyed had received first aid training. If you work in a particularly dangerous environment, such as in a factory or in the agricultural industry, this type of training could help to prevent serious injuries in the event of an accident.
It’s your employer’s responsibility to ensure that you receive the training you need to carry out your job safely, and if they are not meeting these responsibilities, they could be held liable for your accident. That means you could make a personal injury claim and their liability insurance will pay out if your claim is successful.
Should you make a claim?
Some people are put off the idea of making a claim as they assume their injuries aren’t severe enough, or that they shouldn’t make a fuss. Remember that if your employer has provided you with no safety training at work and you’ve been injured as a result, you’re entitled to claim compensation, whether you’ve suffered minor or more serious injuries.
Accident Advice Helpline can process most claims over the phone, making it unlikely you’ll need to go to court, so give us a call today on 0800 689 0500 and find out if you have a viable claim.
