"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Esther Rantzen

I had an accident in the company car but it wasn’t my fault

Any accident that wasn’t your fault could mean that you’re entitled to compensation, and an accident in the company car is no different. Just how you should claim compensation depends on how your particular accident happened, but at Accident Advice Helpline, we can help you work it out.

    Problems with the car

If your accident happened because of a problem with the car that you could not reasonably have foreseen, you may be able to make a claim against your employer. Just like the place where you work and the tools you work with, a company car — especially if it is used by several different employees — has to be maintained in a safe condition.

When you call our advisors, they’ll be able to discuss the accident with you and work out if this applies in your case. If it does, they’ll offer to put you in touch with a solicitor who specialises in employment safety issues. Any compensation awarded in this situation will normally come out of your employer’s liability insurance so you won’t need to worry about it harming the company.

Road maintenance is usually the responsibility of local councils. If your accident was caused by a poorly maintained or obstructed road, a traffic accident solicitor can find out which council is responsible for it and can help you to develop your case. The Accident Advice Helpline has access to many expert solicitors and can quickly find the right person to help you.

    Another driver

If your accident in the company car was caused by the actions of another driver, you can make a claim against them just as you would if you were driving a privately owned vehicle. The police report on the accident normally makes responsibility clear so cases like this can be processed fairly quickly. Still, it’s worth using an experienced traffic accident solicitor in order to be sure of getting the best possible settlement.

    Car accident compensation

If you make a successful claim over your accident, the compensation awarded will normally include several elements. There will be money to compensate you for your suffering and money to cover important medical expenses. You will be compensated for lost earnings if you were unable to work for a while and if you have been left with lasting injuries you my receive money to make it easier to live with them. Your employer will be able to claim for the cost of damage to the car.

    Where to start

Making a claim for compensation doesn’t have to be complicated. You can call our team at any time and they’ll be able to get the process started for you. We deal with lots of car accidents so we realise how stressful they can be, and we’ve streamlined our approach to make things as easy as possible for you. We want you to be able to concentrate on your recovery without missing out on the compensation you deserve.
