The lowest possible food hygiene ratings have been granted to no fewer than 10 food outlets, takeaways or restaurants in York by FSA inspectors. This is double the number of zero ratings that were handed out two years ago when the City of York Food Standards Agency inspected a range of outlets in the city.
According to reports, a number of the owners of affected premises complained of technicalities that led to the zero rating being given. One said a technicality relating to a specific piece of complex machinery had led to their zero rating, and the issue had since been resolved. Several of the affected businesses had since made the necessary changes to bring their rating up to an acceptable level, although the newspaper reports were not able to gain statements from the owners of all 10 establishments.
The dangers of food poisoning
There are several types of bacteria that are capable of causing food poisoning in the right circumstances. Regular inspections of food premises mean that the chances of problems occurring can be reduced. However, while the vast majority of people enjoy great meals from a wide range of restaurants and takeaway outlets, there will always be the potential for bacteria to develop in the right situation. This can lead to food poisoning and uncomfortable experiences for those who go through it.
If you have suffered from food poisoning and you believe a particular outlet could be to blame, it is worth going to a professional injury compensation lawyer to see if you have enough evidence to bring a case.
