Sea Accident Compensation Claims
Have you been injured at sea? You may be eligible to make a sea accident compensation claim.
You may have been injured while working at sea, in which case you should also take a look at our
work injury claim page. If you’ve been injured on holiday, our page on
holiday accident claims will be helpful, and if your injury came about during a sports activity, you’ll find more information on our page devoted to
sporting accidents.
Personal Injury compensation claims are typically made where the accident wasn’t your fault. Most successful personal injury compensation claims are made when another person or organisation is responsible.
What to do
It’s imperative that you collect as much evidence as possible about the accident, ideally showing that you were not at fault. If you’ve hired a faulty jet ski take photos of any visible defects or damage. If another person injured you, get their details and those of any witnesses.
If you’ve hurt yourself as a result of faulty equipment or incorrect instruction, make sure to find out exactly who owns the equipment and exactly who is responsible for your safety.
Most important of all, be sure to get immediate medical attention, even if you don’t feel like you’re really hurt. This is particularly essential if you’ve taken a blow to the head. Also, be sure to keep a record of any medical help you have received and any expenses you have incurred.
Indemnity Insurance
If your injury has been sustained in the UK, on a package holiday run by a UK tour operator, or at work for a UK company, then any sum you are awarded will be paid by the insurer of the company in question. All UK companies must purchase indemnity insurance, so that you and they are fully protected when there is an accident.
