Leg Injury Compensation Claims

Have you suffered a leg injury? You may be eligible to make a leg injury compensation claim.

We are heavily reliant on our legs which can be damaged in a variety of ways. There are three main bones – the femur, fibula and tibia. Bones are often broken, and those injuries can be relatively simple to heal. However there are also more serious fractures - multiple and compound/complex – which are less straightforward to treat.

Other times, people sustain ligament damage, or damage to other muscles and tendons. This is often more painful than a broken leg, and can take longer to heal.

Whatever the problem, to make sure the injury does not become more serious, you will need to get medical advice immediately.

Why it's important to claim for your leg injury

Claims can be made when the accident was not the fault of the injured party. Many injuries of this kind occur in Car Accidents. Alternatively, you may have fallen in the street; in that situation you can make a claim if there was a defect or something dangerous which caused your injury. It is the responsibility of the relevant local authority to ensure that the roads and pavements are maintained properly and regularly inspected to ensure they are safe.

People are often injured at work – they may trip or fall, or strain themselves lifting heavy equipment. If that has happened to you, then you will need to make a Work Injury Claim.

Playing sport is also a common cause of injury. If you have been hurt in this context, please take a look at our Sporting Injury Claim page.

What to do if you want to claim for a leg injury

After you’ve been hurt, your first port of call must be a medical professional. That’ll allow you to discover the seriousness of the injury. Once you’ve been given a leg injury diagnosis, you may well need leg injury treatment, and it’s quite likely you’ll need physiotherapy too.

Although you may feel fine, if you have a leg injury you may not be able to work. If it’s serious, then your movement will be hampered, which might make it hard for you to sit at a desk or leave the house. You may also need help with things you previously took for granted, such as doing the shopping.

In these situations, you need not despair. If you were not at fault for the accident, then you should be covered for loss of earnings and any treatment and assistance that you need. All you need now are people to make sure that you receive what’s due to you.
