A popular contestant on this year’s The Apprentice has talked about the devastating family injury that led to him leaving the show.
23 year old Raleigh Addington, known for his extreme politeness and now-famous utterance of ‘It was shameful!’ to the project manager of his former team, quit the programme during the filming of the second task, which was broadcast last night but took place in December.
He was informed that his brother, an army captain serving in Afghanistan, had suffered terrible injury after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) had detonated near him, resulting in a brain haemorrhage as well as a collapsed lung and multiple fractures.
"At the start of the second task, I was contacted by the producer of the programme who told me that my mother was on the emergency number and I immediately feared the worst," says Raleigh. Thankfully, Captain Ed Addington has made a good recovery, although he has to walk with the aid of a stick.
"When I saw that he was (beside my hospital bed) I was annoyed with him because I thought he had been fired from the first task!" Ed tells Hello! Magazine.
"He knows family comes first, but I truly believe that Lord Sugar lost his best apprentice that day."
