A man who suffered a debilitating work injury has been awarded £50,000 in compensation from the businessman who owned his business premises.
Gary Hounsome was helping to unload a delivery of tiles in November 2006 when one of the pallets fell on top of him, causing him such serious injuries that he has had to undergo several surgical procedures.
Joe Samtani, the owner of the building where the accident occurred, has been given 12 months to pay the claim by Dorchester Crown Court. He was also fined £30,000 for breaching health and safety regulations and ordered to pay £25,000 costs.
