A former farm engineer has professed his delight after a pioneering surgical technique helped him to rebuild his life after a debilitating work injury.
James Mason, 36, was working on a farm in Berkshire in March 2002 when he attempted to lift a gearbox which was too heavy for him. Upon straightening up, he damaged several nerves in his back.
Eight years later, and still unable to work. Mr Mason's doctors tried a pioneering surgical technique by implanting an electrical device in his spine that masks his nerve pain with electrical pulses.
Mr Mason says he has been moved to tears by the effectiveness of his treatment.
