As well as facing compensation claims from thousands of Gulf Coast businesses, the Federal government and disaffected shareholders, BP also faces work injury claims from those people affected by the initial accident on 20th April this year that set the worst oil spillage in the history of the petroleum industry in motion.
The Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion killed eleven rig workers and injured seventeen others, and there are now disputes about where the multitude of cases will be heard. Eight judges in the area have already said they cannot take on any more oil-related cases.
