Police in South Devon are seeking a van driver who crashed into a car containing three young men before fleeing the scene on Monday night. The van, which remains unidentified, collided with the Volkswagen Lupo after coming off a slip road on the A38, at Chudleigh Knighton.
Although the occupants of the car were not seriously injured, they required hospital treatment for whiplash and shock. The mother of one of the accident victims, who did not wish to be named, said it was a miracle that nobody was killed and appealed to members of the public to help look for the van.
It is believed to be a Ford Transit, or similar in appearance, with white paintwork and a fruit logo on the side. Due to the nature of the head-on collision, the front of the van is expected to be heavily damaged.
