A young woman whose scalp was burned whilst her hair was being highlighted has won £8,500 in personal injury compensation.
The claimant attended her usual salon for the routine procedure but no patch tests were performed on her scalp to test whether the chemicals to be used would have any adverse effects. In addition colouring agent was left in her hair for longer than necessary.
This led to the woman sustaining burns to her ears, neck and scalp, for which she received medical treatment.
However the incident has affected her hair growth and as a result she felt unable to go to work or participate in social events. Her personal injury solicitors said:
“Our client was left with an uncomfortable scalp and a great deal of distress. It may take two years for her hair to grow back. Our client has felt unable to take part in her part time job and social events due to embarrassment over the appearance of her badly damaged hair. We were pleased to help her achieve a fair settlement for this problem”
