A couple from Cheshire are seeking compensation after falling ill on holiday in Bulgaria.
Colin Carey and Vicki Fleming are suing their holiday organizer, First Direct, after a romantic trip in September 2008 ended in misery.
They were appalled by conditions at the Royal Park Hotel in Elenite; alleging that hygiene and food standards were substandard and resulted in them both becoming sick.
Miss Fleming told the Manchester Evening News:
"On the first night we went down to the hotel restaurant. The meat was pink and undercooked and they put new on top of old food. The plates, cutlery and cups were dirty.
“The hotel and rooms were beautiful, but cleanliness wasn't great.
“Drinks were being served in plastic glasses, like a child's beaker, which weren't washed properly.”
The couple said they had heard prior warnings about the hotel but their concerns were rebuffed by the holiday operator.
It has since come to light that First Choice had previously paid out compensation to customers in 2004, 2005 and 2007. The Royal Park has now been removed from their brochures.
