Pensioner dies in Northern Ireland car crash

by Tejas Mehta 25 October 2010

An elderly man had been killed and a young woman seriously injured following a car crash in Ballyclare, Co. Antrim.

Bryce McCauley, 78, a retired shopkeeper from the town, died in hospital on Friday after his car struck another vehicle on the Rashee Road at about 1pm.

Local publican Max McConnell said: “Bryce was well liked in the town and a very nice gentleman. My sympathies go out to his family circle.”

Newtownabbey councillor Vera McWilliam told the Belfast Telegraph: “The area in question can get very busy with traffic and there have been a number of accidents on that stretch of road up to the Collin Road.

“My thoughts are with everyone involved and my condolences go out to the family of the man who has lost his life.”
