Car crash mother pays tribute to 'good Samaritan'

by David Carter 28 October 2010

A mother of three who was involved in a car crash has paid tribute to a ‘good Samaritan’ who offered her assistance in the aftermath of the accident.

Kim Scarbo’s car was rear-ended as she waited to join the A50 last Monday. Although nobody was hurt in the crash, she, her mother and her children had to stand on the hard shoulder while they waited for the police to arrive.

Passer-by John Wilson took the children and their grandmother, Mrs Scarbo’s mother Sandra Vinter, back to his house nearby and gave them refreshments before driving them back to Mrs Vinter's home.

"John happened to be walking by within five minutes of the crash in the pedestrian area,” Mrs Scarbo told This is Staffordshire.

"I got my children over the railings and made them safe and he offered to take everyone up to his house.

"We're eternally grateful to John. It was one less worry for me knowing my children were safe."

Bus driver Mr Wilson said, "It's just the natural thing to do like, if someone fell in the street you'd walk over and pick them up."
