Yorkshire car accident leads to serious injuries

by Richard Robins 16 September 2010

Two people have been airlifted to hospital after a serious car accident in North Yorkshire.

The accident happened at about 2.55 yesterday afternoon, near the village of Escrick, on the road to Skipwith.

It is believed that the two cars, a blue Subaru Impreza and a red Honda Jazz, had been travelling in opposite directions when they collided on a bend.

Firefighters had to cut both drivers from their cars, with a hose on standby in case either vehicle caught fire.

A passenger in the Honda, a woman in her 60s, sustained serious leg injuries, while the male driver suffered an angina attack after the accident and was taken to hospital in a road ambulance.

The Subaru’s driver was said to be suffering from chest injuries. The road was closed for around five hours after the accident.
