Scottish teenager killed in tragic train accident

by Alison Leon 20 August 2010

A seventeen year old boy has died after falling in front of a commuter train in Scotland.

Anthony New died after being struck by the Paisley-bound train at Milliken Park station , which is unmanned. Emergency services were alerted at about 8.15 on Tuesday night.

The accident led to the busy Glasgow-Ayr line being closed for a period of time, although services were back to normal by 10pm. Milliken Park remained closed for a longer period of time. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

One onlooker said, “This is such a terrible, terrible shame. It’s so sad and I feel so sorry for his family and friends. They must be devastated.”
