Police name man killed in car crash while arguing with fellow driver

by Kathryn Boast 27 October 2010

Police in south London have named the man who was killed in a car crash on Friday as 40-year-old Anthony Young, from Norwood.

The circumstances of his death seem suspicious: detectives think that he was struck by a car at about 2340 as he stood talking to a fellow driver.

Both Mr Young and the other driver had exited their cars on Trinity Road, a Nissan Micra and a Ford Fiesta respectively, and were involved in an altercation, the circumstances and causes of which are unknown, when Mr Young was struck by another motorist who failed to stop at the scene.

The driver of the Fiesta was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed until November.

DI Justin Davies, told the London Daily News: "Although it was late at night we know a number of vehicles drove past the accident and may have witnessed some part of the events.

"We ask any witnesses - whether drivers or passengers - who passed through the area at that time to come forward.

"We also directly ask the driver whose vehicle was in collision with Mr Young to come forward and make themselves known."
