A drunken man who killed two people and injured both himself and another passenger after driving like a ‘boy racer’ has been jailed for seven years.
Sean Creed, 29, had drunk seven pints of cider before taking to the road in a Subaru Impreza that had just failed its MOT. On top of being under the influence, he was also uninsured and didn’t hold a driving license, having never even sat a test, let alone passed one.
Gloucestershire Crown Court heard that Creed took sisters Jade and Amber Turley, 16 and 19, and Paul Workman, 38, for a drive to get a kebab, during which he played loud music, drove as though ‘invincible’ and never allowed the car’s engine to drop below about 5000rpm, despite the pleas of his passengers to slow down.
He lost control on a patch of wet road on Cherington Lane and hit a wall, resulting in the accident that killed both Mr Workman and Jade.
Tests found that Creed had 140 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, reports the Stroud News and Journal. The legal limit is 80mg.
Ray Tully, Creed’s defence solicitor, said his client did not wish to evade responsibility for the accident.
