A pub landlord has described a father’s anguish as he tried to pull his dying daughter free after a car accident.
The four year old girl was killed in the crash, which happened on the junction of Station Road and the A6 bypass at Blackrod, near Bolton.
Ian Liversidge, who runs the Ridgeway Arms pub at the junction, says the driver hauled a boy out of the back seat of the car before wrenching off a door in a desperate bid to free the little girl.
Mr Liversidge said: “He was screaming and shouting and we went over to do what we could.
“There was a woman who got out of the front passenger seat who had blood on her face and she was hysterical.
“I felt the little girl’s hand and neck for a pulse but the injuries were horrific.
“Paramedics and police and an air ambulance arrived – they were the finest and did everything they could to try and help her.”
Police say the family’s white Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a grey Audi A5.
A 19-year-old has since been charged with two counts of death by dangerous driving in connection with the crash.
