A woman has died in a freak accident as she was trying to de-ice her car.
Andrea Southern, 43, was found trapped under her black Fiat Panda by a neighbour, at about 7 o’clock yesterday morning.
Police believe the accident, which happened in Widnes, Cheshire, was the result of the car rolling backwards as Ms Southern, the mother of two young girls, scraped ice from the windscreen. She became dragged and trapped under the front wheels, where she was found.
By the time paramedics reached her she had gone into cardiac arrest and needed cut free from the Fiat, which was sitting with its engine still running. She was taken to Whiston Hospital but died later in the day, reports the BBC.
A police spokeswoman, appealing for witnesses, said: "This may help police piece together the sequence of events resulting in the woman's tragic death."
