A 73-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a car in Broughty Ferry, near Dundee.
The woman, who has not yet been named, was struck by a green Citroen AX hatchback some time after 7pm last night. She had been walking along Balgillo Road when the accident happened.
The victim, who was not alone at the time, was rushed to Ninewells Hospital where she received treatment for head and leg injuries.
The 42-year-old driver of the Citroen was unhurt but was suffering from shock, reports The Courier.
The road was cordoned off for several hours afterwards while police conducted their investigations.
