Car accident disrupts phone lines in Bridlington

Phone communication was affected by a car accident in Bridlington, north Humberside, on Sunday afternoon.

A blue Volkswagen Golf struck a telegraph pole on the Bridlington Bay Road at about 4.10pm, reports the Yorkshire Post, resulting in the elderly couple insuide requiring hospital treatment.

The 70 year old male driver sustained a broken breastbone and rib, while the 69 year old female passenger suffered minor head injuries in the accident. The couple, both from Filey,  were taken to Scarborough Hospital for treatment, and remain in a stable condition.

The collision disrupted telephone power supplies and the A614 was closed between the roundabout on the A614 near Moor Lane and Bridlington Bay Road, between 4.30pm and 7pm.
