[January 2010] A lady from Dudley has been seriously injured after a step gave way underneath her. The lady and her husband were looking around a caravan showroom with a view to buying a caravan when the accident happened.
A piece of decking upon which the woman was walking suddenly snapped beneath her and caused her to fall about from about two feet up on to the ground below, injuring her knee in the process.
The caravan salesman and her husband helped her up, as her leg had already started to swell. The next day putting any pressure on her leg was too painful and she began experiencing shooting pains throughout her leg.
The woman went straight to her local GP to have her
leg injuries looked at. After she had been diagnosed and treated she contacted Accident Advice Helpline to enquire about making a
compensation claim for her injuries. She was awarded compensation of over £5,000.
