Female worker wins £3054.68 with help from Accident Advice Helpline

[January 2010] A woman has been injured at work after the chair on which she was sitting collapsed. She was on a tea break whilst working at her local café when she sat down on the broken chair. The legs of the chair gave way, throwing her forward and causing her to land heavily.

She sustained a head injury and concussion in the accident.

This incident was noted in the company's accident book and the report stated that the chairs were indeed faulty and should have been checked at the beginning of the day.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital shortly after the accident where her injuries were diagnosed.

She got in touch with Accident Advice Helpline. Her employer was found to be liable for her injuries and a claim was made against the company's indemnity insurance. The woman was awarded an injury compensation payment of £3054.68.
