A significant number of the personal injury claims in West Oxfordshire that we help people with here at Accident Advice Helpline, are the result of road traffic accidents. Some of the injuries are relatively minor, things like whiplash injury for example, and some are considerably more serious, such as loss of limbs or injuries that result in paralysis. Some of course are fatal injuries.

The improvement in the design of cars has gone a long way to lessen the number of accidents, as have the many campaigns; particularly seasonal campaigns like the Christmas drink/drive adverts. Most years there is a slight improvement on the previous year in terms of the number of accidents; but this was unfortunately not the case last year.

The number of KSIs (killed and seriously injured) increased last year by 2% over the previous year, rising to 24,160. The total number of injuries (of all severities) also rose; in this instance by 1% from 188,884 to 189,880. In terms of fatalities, these increased by a massive 4%, to a new total of 1,750.

Most compensation claims in West Oxfordshire never get to court

Well over 90% of the claims in West Oxfordshire that we helped claimants to process were successfully concluded without claimants having to go to court. This is in accordance with the national trend. It means that we can act as claimants’ local solicitors (in the virtual sense) providing they have access to either the Internet or a telephone.

The internet has changed the way that most of us do things today. With responsive websites like ours, people can check out how much compensation they might be awarded for their injury by taking the Accident Advice Helpline 30-second test. This test kills two birds with one stone. Before giving you an estimate, it checks out your potential claim to see if it appears to be valid. At worst it’s a simple device that stops people from launching claims that are unlikely to qualify. At best it not only validates your claim in theory, but it also indicates the amount of compensation you can look forward to receiving.
