Crawley is a town and local government district which also has borough status and is found within the ceremonial County of West Sussex, in the south of England. The town is situated approximately 28 miles (45 km) south of Charing Cross (London), 18 miles (29 km) north of Brighton and Hove, and 32 miles (51 km) northeast of the County Town of Chichester.

The town consists of approximately 13 different residential districts that are split up by different road and railway routes and which include the districts of Ifield, Pound Hill and Three Bridges which were absorbed into the new town at different stages of its development. Following the New Towns Act of 1946, Crawley has been known as a new town and it has proven a popular one with the London residents and businesses that were encouraged to make a new home in one of these south eastern new towns.

Today’s Crawley

Today Crawley is a thriving and busy population centre which covers an area of approximately 17 and a half square miles and is home to an estimated population of 107,100 people. Having this large number of residents in a comparatively small surface area means that the town has a high population density (more than 7,500 per square mile), and it is areas of such population densities that tend to suffer from higher accident rates. So it is pertinent for us to look at the issues surrounding personal injury compensation claims for Crawley residents.
