Air Accident Compensation Claims
Have you been injured in the air? You may be eligible to make an air accident compensation claim.
If you’ve been injured working in the air, you might find it helpful to have a read of our page on
work injury claims. Alternatively, you may have been hurt on holiday, in which case we recommend that you click through to our page on
holiday accident claims after you’ve read this one. And if your injury was sustained during a sporting activity, our page devoted to
sporting accidents will give you some general information about making a claim of this sort.
Successful personal injury compensation claims are made when the injured party is not at fault for the accident, and another person or organisation is responsible. Whilst travelling by air the airline or the holiday company will be responsible for your safety.
What to do
You must go out of your way to collect as much information about the accident as possible, and of course anything that shows it wasn’t your fault is particularly useful.
If bad instruction or faulty equipment is to blame for the accident, be sure to investigate – it would be especially helpful if you were able to find out who’s responsible for the instructor and owns the equipment.
Of course what’s more important than anything is that you obtain immediate medical attention, whether or not you think you need it. You must be especially careful if you’ve had a bang on the head, which can seem like nothing at the time, but is actually very serious. To help your claim and make sure you get back any money you’ve already spent, keep a record of the attention you receive, in addition to any expenses incurred.
Indemnity Insurance
If you’ve been injured in the UK, working for a UK company, or on a holiday run by a UK tour operator, they will be covered by indemnity insurance. This is required by law, and means that any money you receive will be paid by the insurer.
